MELAKA, Nov 17 (Sin Chew Daily) — Melaka voters were reminded to emulate the spirit of 1984 Save Bukit Cina campaign to stop the state government’s plan to demolish a Malaysian cemetery hill for commercial development 37 years ago.

Lim Kit Siang and the late Karpal Singh were participants of the campaign as shown in an old photograph.

Karpal Singh’s son Gobind Singh Deo and Lim Kit Siang were at the Bukit Cina hilltop on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of the campaign to revive the spirit of Save Bukit Cina campaign while reminding the voters to participate in the state election.

Gobind Singh said he recalled his late father as he visited Bukit Cina with Lim and urged the people of Melaka to come out and vote for Pakatan Harapan on the polling day.

Lim said he was worried the voting turnout on polling day could be a historic low.

Lim reminded Melaka people of the spirit of “Save Bukit Cina” to unite the diverse people in the state for a common vision — to make Malaysia a world-class nation through the Melaka polls.
