Zahid will be PM if BN wins, says DAP’s Nga citing Umno source

KUALA LUMPUR: Nga Kor Ming, DAP’s Parliamentary Leader, said if Barisan Nasional were to win the next general election, Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi would become the country’s next prime minister.

He told Sin Chew Daily at the Parliament House today that from the information he received from Umno, the party’s top leadership had reached a consensus that Ahmad Zahid would be the new prime minister if BN wins the election.

If the Parliament is dissolved this month, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who was sworn in as prime minister only on August 21 last year, will be the shortest-serving prime minister at 13 months.

Nga also said it was just Umno’s strategy to make Ismail the party’s “poster boy” in the election campaign.

“Just as Ahmad Zahid had openly declared before the Johor election that state BN chairman Datuk Hasni Mohammad would be the only candidate for menteri besar but was subsequently ditched after the election win.

“It will happen again on the federal level!”

Nga insisted that this is not the right time for an election, as state governments are busy preparing for the year-end monsoon relief.
