Let’s put aside our prejudices and embrace diversity
It is our wish that the country and society will see more uplifting changes in 2020 and that all Malaysians irrespective of race and religion will put down their prejudices and suspicions to rebuild our faded mutual trust.

Bidding adieu to 2019, we are ushering in a whole new year of 2020!

What are your biggest wishes as a citizen of this country? And what are your biggest expectations from our country and society?

To many Malaysians, no doubt 2019 was a year of turmoil, a year of endless political tricks, a year of insecurity, of racist prejudices, eroded mutual trust, smothering economic burden and lack of market dynamism.

Many were frustrated and sceptical, and hence we had our annual Chinese character 骗 which means “cheat”.

This country belongs to all Malaysians. As we step into a brand new year, it is our wish that the country and society will see more uplifting changes and that all Malaysians irrespective of race and religion will put down their prejudices and suspicions to rebuild our faded mutual trust and engage in meaningful dialogues in an attempt to dissolve any ill-feeling that stands our way.

Change is only possible if we have a strong resolution to bring it to fruition. Let's work together to turn our lofty ideals into reality in 2020.

“Put side our prejudices and let's embrace unity in erecting a harmonious country for all of us.” This is such a humble yet courageous vision all Malaysians have for the new year.

Sin Chew Daily will continue to unleash the positive media energy and work hand-in-hand with Malaysians in making this glorious vision a reality.
