PUTRAJAYA, Dec 26 (Sin Chew Daily) — Dong Zong president Tan Tai Kim said the upcoming national congress for Chinese organisations would proceed as scheduled despite the fact Dong Zong’s representatives were summoned by the Registry of Societies this morning.

Dong Zong president Tan Tai Kim, vice president Yang Yin Chon, secretary-general Ng Chai Heng and executive member Yeoh Chai Kok arrived at the Rgisttry of Societies headquarters at 9.30 a.m. this morning, and left at around 11.20 a.m.

“It was just a routine questioning. They want to know the event’s venue, purpose and other details. No special warning has been issued and we are reminded to comply with the rules and regulations.”

He said the December 28 congress would not be a problem provided that the rules and regulations are complied with.

The upcoming national congress for Chinese organisations will be held at 1 p.m. this Saturday at the New Era University College 5th floor hall with the objective of urging the government to listen to the views of the people and cancel the Jawi class at Chinese and Tamil primary schools nationwide.
