Dong Zong: congress to invite Malay VIPs

KAJANG, Dec 26 (Sin Chew Daily) — Dong Zong president Tan Tai Kim said the Chinese Organisations Joint Congress scheduled for this coming Saturday would proceed as planned at New Era University College in Kajang.

He emphasised that the congress is held to discuss only the issue of education, and that the organisers would ensure the order and safety during the congress.

Tan said after chairing the December 28 Chinese Organisations Joint Congress organising committee meeting this afternoon that over a thousand representatives from local Chinese organisations, SJKC school boards, parent-teacher associations and alumni associations from across the nation had registered for the event.

In addition to representatives from Chinese educational bodies, Tan said several Indian educational organisations had also expressed their support for the event.

“The congress will also invite former minister in the prime minister’s department Zaid Ibrahim, Tamil Foundation representative K Arumugam, Malay scholar Mohd Tajuddin Mohd Rasdi, G25 representative Johan Ali, etc. to express their views on the teaching of Jawi calligraphy.
