PETALING JAYA, Jan 2 (Sin Chew Daily) — Prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he would announce a new candidate to take the place of Maszlee Malik who has resigned as education minister with effect from tomorrow.

He said in a statement that Maszlee had submitted the resignation letter to him.

“I accept his resignation, and thank him for his contribution as a cabinet member.”
