KANGAR, Jan 3 (Sin Chew Daily) — Perlis mufti Datuk Seri Asri Zainul Abidin described Dong Zong as an extremist organisation like LTTE.

He said Dong Zong was a threat to the country's security and should be banned, adding that even prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad agreed that it was an extremist organisation.

Asri said Dong Zong had acted as if the country was to start a war over three pages of Jawi in the textbook, for fear that learning Jawi would turn a person into Muslim.

He said it was foolish for non-Muslims to see this as a crisis, for the country had never forced anyone to believe in Islam.
