Still going strong at 99
KUALA TERENGGANU (Sin Chew Daily) -- Avoid deep fried food, eat more fresh vegetables and walk more. These are the secrets to Lim Sheng's longevity and marvelous health.
Despite her advanced age of 99, Lim is still enjoying good health and sharp memory.
As if that is not enough, she still sews and cooks, and is very meticulous about her appearance so that she always looks gracious and energetic despite her age.
Although she has an eyesight problem with her right eye, she still walks around Kuala Terengganu's Chinatown to see some old friends or play a game of mahjong with them.
Lim Sheng told Bernama in a recent interview that she eats mostly fresh vegetables and would avoid oily food.
She also said she was running a restaurant when she was young, and had to walk up and down the shop to serve customers. This probably explains why she is still enjoying good health and seldom falls sick today.
Particular about own look
Despite her age, Lim Sheng is very particular about her look.
"I stay above the restaurant and every time I go out, I will need an hour and a half to get ready. The children just get impatient!"
Lim is looking forward to each Chinese New Year with much anticipation, and would cook her favorite kam heong chicken for the family for reunion dinner although all the other dishes are prepared by her children and grandchildren.
As for her New Year wishes, she said she hoped to stay healthy and spend more quality time with family.
