DAP: Mahathir quits as he refuses to work with Umno

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 (Sin Chew Daily) — DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said his party would propose in tonight's Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting to nominate Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the country's prime minister in order to fulfill the coalition's election manifesto.

He said after chairing an emergency meeting at the party's headquarters today that he was shocked Mahathir wanted to resign when he met him this morning.

He said Mahathir resigned because he did not want to work with Umno.

"He said it very clearly that he could not work with Umno. He worked very hard in the 2018 general elections to take out the BN government."

Lim Guan Eng also praised Tun Mahathir for his insistence in not cooperating with a corrupt Umno.
