119 SMEs honored at second Sin Chew Business Awards

SHAH ALAM (Sin Chew Daily) — The second Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards have come to a successful conclusion with Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay being presented the Lifetime Excellence Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution towards the business sector.

Business Excellence Person of the Year Award. meanwhile, went to the executive chairman of Sunsuria Datuk Ter Leong Yap and PKT Logistics group managing director and chief executive Datuk Michael Tio.

More than 1,500 renowned SME executives and representatives attended the award presentation ceremony.

There were a total of 119 winners for the ten categories of the second Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards.

With the theme "Innovation, Transformation, Sustainability," Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards has received overwhelming response from SMEs across the country, including some which are more than 100 years old.

The winners have been picked by an independent panel of judges whose members are highly trustworthy representatives from various organizations including the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Hua Zong), the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance (MICG), Small Medium Industry Association of Malaysia (SMIAM), Persatuan Usahawan Maju Malaysia (PUMM), Malaysian Retailer-Chains Association (MRCA), Branding Association of Malaysia and Sin Chew Media Corporation.

The second Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards was organized jointly by Sin Chew Daily and MCIL Multimedia Sdn Bhd, both under Sin Chew Media Corporation. CIMB Bank is the exclusive sponsor of this event.

Among the supporting partners are the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Hua Zong), the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), Small Medium Industry Association of Malaysia (SMIAM), Malaysian Retailer-Chains Association (MRCA), Persatuan Usahawan Maju Malaysia (PUMM), Branding Association of Malaysia, the Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance (MICG) and Junior Chamber International (JCI) Malaysia.

Grant Thornton Malaysia is the auditor of this event. The other event partners include Fine Paper Takeo Sdn Bhd, Skynet and Setia City Convention Centre.

Among the VIPs at the award presentation ceremony were Second finance minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay and other business dignitaries.
