PETALING JAYA (Sin Chew Daily) — The Sin Chew Business Awards evaluation process is going on smoothly and winners for this year's event are expected to be notified in writing by end of August.

The second edition of the Sin Chew Business Awards is jointly organized by Sin Chew Daily and MCIL Multimedia Sdn Bhd The event's exclusive sponsor is CIMB Bank.

With the theme "Innovation, Transformation and Sustainability," the objective of Sin Chew Business Awards is to reward local businesses with exceptional performances. This year's event has seen tremendous responses from Malaysian businesses.

Supporting partners of the Sin Chew Business Awards include the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Hua Zong), the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), Small Medium Industry Association of Malaysia (SMIAM), Malaysian Retailer-Chains Association (MRCA), Persatuan Usahawan Maju Malaysia (PUMM), Branding Association of Malaysia, the Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance (MICG), Junior Chamber International (JCI) Malaysia and JCI Kuala Lumpur Mandarin (JCIKLM).

The other event partners include Fine Paper Takeo Sdn Bhd, Skynet and Setia City Convention Centre. Grant Thornton Malaysia is the event auditor.

One of the evaluation panelist, the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Hua Zong) president Tan Sri Pheng Yin Huah told Sin Chew Daily, "I think this yea's event is a great improvement from last year's. We have seen some heavyweight companies taking part this year, showing that Sin Chew Business Awards has indeed won the recognition of Malaysian businesses. I believe more local entrepreneurs will appreciate this event. I want to congratulate the winners in advance, and hope they ill become the role models for other businesses to emulate."

Malaysian Retailer-Chains Association (MRCA) Datuk CL Liaw said, "Malaysian businesses have been able to gain wider recognition through the Sin Chew Business Awards, which is a very good platform for local Chinese businesses. Other than excelling in their businesses, successful entrepreneurs must also discharge their social obligations. I would say most of the contestants this year are of exceptional quality."

Persatuan Usahawan Maju Malaysia (PUMM) president Datuk Tony Looi Chee Hong added, "Other than contributing towards the country with their quality products, local businesses must also not overlook employee well-being, corporate social responsibility, environment preservation and innovation."

"I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the contestants in this year's Sin Chew Business Awards," Branding Association of Malaysia president Datuk Eric Chong said. "We've seen some of the younger and technology-based companies taking part this year. We should encourage young people to start their own businesses as this will help elevate the country's economy."

Small Medium Industry Association of Malaysia (SMIAM) national deputy president Michael Kang also agreed, "Sin Chew Business Awards is a very good event that provides due recognition for exceptional local businesses which should become role models for other SMEs."
