SHAH ALAM — MCIL Multimedia Sdn Bhd chief executive cum Sin Chew Media Corporation group general manger (information technology) Kieu Tien Siong pointed out that the fourth edition of Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards for this year would have a new category "Digital and Technology Business Excellence Award" that should encourage SMEs in this sector to take part in the event.

In line with the transformation of Sin Chew Media Corporation along with the rapid changes taking place in the Malaysian and global markets, this new award category would offer more opportunities for SMEs in the IT sector in view of the sudden emergence of such companies in recent years.

During the launch of the 2016 Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards, Kieu encouraged SMEs to actively take part in the event which is jointly organized by Sin Chew Daily and Sinchew.com.my, and exclusively sponsored by CIMB Bank.

"Chinese Media International Limited executive chairman Tan Sri Tiong Hiew King said during the launch of last year's event that Sin Chew was a media organization thriving along with the Malaysian Chinese community as well as local Chinese businesses, and as such we would do our best to ensure the event's success in order not to fail the expectations of the general public.

"He said he hoped the Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards would inject new values and elements into local SMEs.

"We'll take the advise of Tan Sri Tiong and strive to make this event not only a benchmark for Malaysia but also the entire Southeast Asian region."

Kieu also thanked the various supporting partners which had helped ensure the event's success in the past three years, including the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Hua Zong), ACCCIM, MRCA, MRA, PIKOM, BAM, PUMM, SME Association, MICG and Grant Thornton Malaysia.
