7,205 arrested for flouting MCO since Mar 18

PUTRAJAYA, Apr 9 (Sin Chew Daily) — Defence ministry senior minster Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob pointed out during a press conference today that the police issued 95 summons tickets to violators of the movement control order (MCO) yesterday.

The offenders are required to pay their RM1,000 fines at the nearest health department offices or police stations within two weeks, or face court actions.

Ismail Sabri said a total of 300 people were arrested yesterday for violating the MCO, with the cumulative total arrested since March 18 at 7,205.

The senior minister also said the government would discuss the standard operating procedures (SOP) for red, yellow and green zones during the MCO.

He nevertheless said even if the MCO is eventually lifted , public gatherings would still be banned.
