Nga confirms PM submitted motion to replace him and Speaker last minute
KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 (Sin Chew Daily) – Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Nga Kor Ming said prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin submitted the motion to replace Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof and him in the last minute, giving Pakatan Harapan no time to submit their own candidates.
Nga confirmed with Sin Chew Daily that Muhyiddin submitted the motion at 16:50 on June 26, just ten minutes before the submission deadline.
There have been rumors the new Dewan Rakyat Speaker could be from outside the political circle.
According to a reliable source, election commission chairman Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun is a possible candidate, while Umno's MP for Pengerang and former minister in the PM's department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said could be the new deputy speaker.
