Support pledged to the Muhyiddin-led government without written agreement
KUALA LUMPUR, A total of 12 leaders from various political parties support Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to lead Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the next general elections.
Without signing written agreement, they agreed that Muhyiddin would continue to be the Prime Minister if PN were to win in the next general elections.
Joseph Kurup, acting president of the United Sabah People’s Party (PBRS) told Sin Chew Daily that PN coalition members support Muhyiddin as the Prime Minister until the end of his term. The support would be extended if Muhyiddin were to win in the next elections.
“A total of 11 coalition members support Muhyiddin as the Prime Minister. We also discussed about how to let PN continue with its operations and progress from here. Muhyiddin has done a good job in handling the Covid-19 pandemic," said Kurup.
The Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) president S.A. Vigneswaran said all PN coalition members agreed to support Muhyiddin to lead PN in the elections and Muhyiddin would continue to be the Prime Minister.
In a meeting held with the coalition members, Vigneswaran said Muhyiddin touched on PN preparing for the general elections and not a snap poll.
The Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) president Wee Ka Siong said the meeting involving Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition members showed their support to Muhyiddin.
As no one would know when the next general elections would be held, he said the BN coalition members have started to prepare for the polls.
“Many things are possible to take place. This depends on the political trend. The parliament sitting in July and Aug may see political changes too. No one has an answer for that,"said Wee.
Muhyiddin posted photographs of meeting with various political party leaders supporting PN on social media.
