MUAR (Sin Chew Daily) — Social distancing labels can be creative too.
For the Church of St. Andrew in Muar, a total of 99 cartoon sheep are placed on the benches in the church to mark one metre of social distancing.
At one glance, the sheep in the church were like the sheep in the church waiting for parishioner to return to church.
The cartoon sheep are made of cardboards.
Church of St. Andrew Parish Priest Fr.Paul Wong Poh Loke said the cartoon sheep was designed by a creative church member and five other church members worked together to complete a total of 99 sheep.
The cartoon sheep, used as an icon to remind church members of social distancing, is special to Christians as Jesus was once a good shepherd and his followers were regarded as sheep.
Fr. Paul said sheep often played a supplementary role when christians celebrate Christmas and other Christian-related activities.
However, during Covid-19 pandemic, the 99 cartoon sheep placed inside the church portrayed an unprecedented scene.
Many parishioner favoured the idea when they saw the photo of the cartoon sheep was circulated in the whatsapp group of parishioner.
Parishioner are looking forward to attend mass in church.
