KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Sin Chew Daily) – Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced in a press conference this afternoon that he would set up a new Malay political party.

He said the new party would continue to defend the rights of the Malays and bumiputras.

However, he did not reveal the name of the new party.

Prior to this, it was rumored that the new party to be set up by Mahathir would be named "Parti Bersatu Rakyat Malaysia".
