Malaysian man wanted in US injured during arrest

PETALING JAYA, Sept 19 (Sin Chew Daily) — Malaysian Ling Yang Ching on the wanted list of the United States, was injured in a scuffle with the police during his arrest.

Ling, accused by the US prosecutors of conspiring with digital spies from China to profit from computer intrusions targeting videogame companies in the United States, France, Japan, Singapore and South Korea, suffered a fractured left arm when he resisted arrest.

He was later sent to Manjong Hospital by the police.

It is learned that a special team from Bukit Aman comprising the investigation unit, international police, criminal investigation, commercial crime, special branch and forensic department arrested Ling , 32, and Wong Ong Hua, 46, in Sitiawan, Perak, on September 14, following a request from the US.

The US Department of Justice said Wong is co-founder and chief executive officer of SEA Gamer Mall Limited Company. Ling is the company's director and technical analyst.

It is learned that the police arrested Ling at Jalan Desa Aman 5 in Kampung Koh, Sitiawan, at 8.00 pm on September 14. Ling had attempted to flee initially. He was arrested after involving in a commotion with the police.

The same team of police arrested Wong 20 minutes later at his home in a Chinese new village.

The police later raided the office of SEA Gamer at Taman Ria Jaya. Computer equipment and documents were recovered from the office.

A team of police from the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur checked the documents recovered.

The documents and computer equipment were kept by the commercial crime division of Bukit Aman to be handed over to the US government later.

The police have obtained court order to remand Wong and Ling for 60 days.

Both are now detained in Sungai Buloh prison.
