Poll: 77% reject emergency, 50% want Anwar to be PM

PETALING JAYA, Oct 25 (Sin Chew Daily) – According to a poll conducted by Selangor state government think tank Institut Darul Ehsan (IDE), as many as 77.39% of respondents are against the proclamation of emergency decree by the federal government, while only 32.49% support Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to continue to be prime minister.

Meanwhile, as many as 49.8% of respondents say they want Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to take over as prime minister, while only 17.71% want the Parliament to be dissolved to pave way for fresh elections.

The 8-hour poll running from 16:00 to 24:00 yesterday covers 51,147 respondents from different ethnic groups.

According to IDE's statement, majority of those supporting the proclamation of emergency are also supporters of prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, while Anwar's supporters reject the emergency decree.
