BN meeting to discuss snap poll, Muhyiddin

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 (Sin Chew Daily) – Umno will propose in the special meeting for Barisan Nasional MPs this afternoon to urge prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to restore the mandate of the people and call for a snap general election.

A source told Sin Chew Daily Umno wants Muhyiddin to hold the general election as soon as possible and return the power to the people.

MP for Padang Rengas Datuk Seri  Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said during an interviewer with Sin Chew Daily BN MPs will mainly discuss the instructions of His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong, in their meeting at Umno headquarters this afternoon.

"The meeting may discuss whether to urge (PM) Muhyiddin to step down."

Umno supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi has urged Muhyiddin to resign, in a Facebook post earlier today.

However, another supreme council member Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin told the media before the meeting at Umno headquarters that his party would continue to be with the Perikatan Nasional government at this stage.

He said Umno leaders would abide by the instructions of His Majesty to avert political instability.

Meanwhile, foreign minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein told the media before the meeting that the Umno supreme council meeting tonight will discuss whether Muhyiddin should resign and whether BN will retract its support for the PN government.

Earlier today, MIC president Tan Sri Vigneswaran Sanasee told Sin Chew Daily in an interview that Muhyiddin did not mention a word whether he would resign as prime minister in this morning's meeting with leaders of PN government component parties at the prime minister's office.

"No such thing. The prime minister did not mention that he would resign. We were talking about other things."

However, he declined to reveal what were discussed in that meeting.
