Teachers can go back to school to use equipment during school closure

PETALING JAYA, Nov 9 (Sin Chew Daily) – All schools and vocational institutes ordered to close during the conditional movement control order (CMCO) must continue with home-based learning for the affected students.

However, according to a directive from deputy education director-general (school operation sector) Adzman Talib made available to Sin Chew Daily, the education ministry allows teachers to go back to their schools to use the teaching and Internet equipment with consent of the schools authorities, provided that SOPs are strictly adhered to.

"Teachers working from home are not required to go back to their schools to conduct online lessons. However, if the teaching materials and Internet speed are more superior at the school, they are allowed to remain at the school premises.”

The directive also says all principals of schools and vocational institutes in states implementing or not implementing CMCO must ensure that their teachers and students are carrying out online lessons.

Education ministry senior minister Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin announced yesterday that all primary, secondary schools as well as vocational institutes throughout the country would be closed from November 9 untilt the end of the academic year, including those in states not subjected to CMCO, i.e. Kelantan, Pahang and Perlis.
