MCA invited to China-Asean dialogue on COVID-19, economic recovery

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 28 (Sin Chew Daily) — The Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) has participated in an online dialogue on new China-Asean collaboration: Responsibility and Commitment of Political Parties, as one of the political parties in Southeast Asia invited by the International Department of Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

The International Department of Central Committee of CPC held the virtual dialogue at Nanning with the theme Dialogue Between CPC and Political Parties in Southeast Asia: Explore a New China-Asean Collaboration on November 26.

More than 300 delegates representing 40 political parties from ten Asean countries – Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam – attended the virtual dialogue with representatives from CPC.

MCA PRC Affairs Committee & Belt and Road Initiative Center Chairman Tan Teik Cheng said in a statement that MCA praised the effort made by the International Department of CPC.

The dialogue shared experiences in handling the COVID-19 pandemic, governance and achieved consensus among political parties on pragmatic collaboration as well as mobilizing effort to push for economic recovery in the region.

MCA is convinced that such a dialogue would bring China and the ten Asean member countries closer and contribute towards greater progress in economy, trade and health sectors in the region.
