Interpol issues blue notice to track down fugitive Liow

PETALING JAYA, Apr 8 (Sin Chew Daily) — Through the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), a blue notice has been issued to trace fugitive businessman Datuk Seri Nicky Liow Soon Hee on the wanted list.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani told Sin Chew Daily the police were unable to confirm whether Liow, 33, had left Malaysia although speculations on social media claimed that he had fled the country.

The police, especially those in Johor, were still searching for Liow, he said.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said information was leaked by one of his men during "Op Pelican 3.0" to hunt down Liow and his accomplices.

Acryl Sani said the police had yet to arrest the alleged informer for investigation.

As Liow's case was still pending investigation, Johor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay would only announce after further details on the case were compiled, he said.

Acryl Sani said the police had started probing three police officers after receiving a tip-off from members of the public in an anonymous letter against the officers who covered for Liow.

The letter claimed that three police officers with the rank of deputy superintendent and assistant superintendent were suspected of receiving bribes from Liow to cover up his criminal activities.

The police had since arrested 118 suspects, including eight who are Datuks for allegedly involved in criminal activities carried out by Winner Dynasty Group founded by Liow during Op Pelican 3.0.

A total of 42 men and six women were detained under The Security Offenses (Special Measures) Act.

The Winner Dynasty Group is allegedly involved in drug-related activities, Macau scam, loan shark business, investment scam, online fraud, money laundering and other illegal activities. At least 34 enforcement officers were said to be in cahoots with Liow.
