Opposition leaders to have audience with King to end emergency

PETALING JAYA, Apr 22 (Sin Chew Daily) – Leaders of six opposition parties will join hands to seek an audience with His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah and plead with the latter to end the Emergency decree immediately.

Parti Amanah Negara information chief Khalid Samad said the leaders wished to express the voices of the people to the King.

He told Sin Chew Daily he would submit the list of leaders to seek an audience with His Majesty as follows:

1. Opposition Leader and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim

2. DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng

3. Amanah president Mohamad Sabu

4. Former prime minister cum Parti Pejuang Tanah Air founder Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad

5. Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal

6. Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) founder Syed Saddiq

7. Several members of 'Tamat Darurat' committee

Khalid, who is also 'Tamat Darurat' committee chairman, said they are still waiting for a notice from the Palace on how many people would be allowed to have an audience with His Majesty.

Khalid received a letter from the Palace this morning that His Majesty had agreed to grant an audience to 'Tamat Darurat' committee members although a date had yet to be fixed.
