KUALA KRAI, May 11 (Sin Chew Daily) — Members of the public queue up at a COVID-19 vaccination center here to receive injections reserved for those with appointments but do not turn up.

For two days there has been a long queue outside the vaccination center at a hall in Kuala Krai as those who did not receive notifications from the MySejahtera app tried their luck.

The queue started as early as 7am.

The medical staff started to limit the number of people entering the hall and once the available vaccines were all taken up, they were told to leave.

The vaccination center in Kuala Krai district started operating on May 6.

As many who signed up for the vaccination earlier do not show up on scheduled dates, those on standby were offered the injections instead.

The queue started to build as news spread.

A person in charge of the vaccination center in Kuala Krai said currently the center caters for 70 people on standby to be vaccinated. Malaysians above the age of 50 and are on standby are the ones given the vaccination.

However, she stressed that priority would be given to those who have been assigned with an appointment to be vaccinated.

"Those who are on standby may not get to be vaccinated on the same day. They may be informed to return the following day," she said.

The person also advised members of the public not to be too anxious as the COVID-19 vaccination was carried out based on scheduled appointments.

"Those who have registered with MySejahtera will be notified in batches," she said.
