PUTRAJAYA, May 23 (Sin Chew Daily) – A record of 6,976 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, including five imported cases.

Selangor reported 2,235 new cases, followed by Sarawak (663), Kelantan (626), Kuala Lumpur (447), Negeri Sembilan (434), Kedah (422), Penang (372), Perak (279), Terengganu (266), Pahang (263), Melaka (209) and Sabah (136).

To date there are a cumulative total of 512,091 confirmed cases and 452,821 recoveries (including 3,587 discharged today) at 88.43% recovery rate.

49 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 2,248.

There are currently 57,022 active cases, including 681 at ICUs, 361 requiring ventilators.
