PUTRAJAYA, July 8 (Sin Chew Daily) – A total of 8,868 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, including ten imported cases.

Selangor reported 4,152 new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,133), Negeri Sembilan (897), Perak (543), Kedah (360), Johor (336), Sarawak (281), Sabah (279), Penang (237), Melaka (183), Pahang (152) and Kelantan (135).

To date there are a cumulative total of 808,658 confirmed cases and 725,480 recoveries (including 5,802 discharged today) at 89.71% recovery rate.

A record 135 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 5,903.

There are currently 77,275 active cases, including 952 at ICUs, 445 requiring ventilators.
