KULIM, July 16 (Sin Chew Daily) — A mermaid prince has received his first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at a clinic near KLCC.

Fitness instructor Ng Kah Wen, winner of 2019 World Mermaid Championship, was in his mermaid suit for the vaccination.

In a phone interview with Sin Chew Daily, Ng said the mermaid tail made of silicone mixed with fabric, was about 5kg in weight. The suit would be heavier if he is in the water.

Ng, who has several sets of mermaid suits, picked one with illustrations of Japanese koi for his vaccination.

Asked why he dressed up as a mermaid prince for his vaccination, he said when he was notified of the vaccination appointment, the idea of receiving his first injection as a mermaid prince came to him spontaneously.

He was given the permission by medical staff to be clad in a mermaid suit when he made the request.

Ng said he was used to wearing the suit as a mermaid prince.

It was reported that Ng won the 2019 World Mermaid Championship held in Guangzhou, China, for his performance as an ocean king poisoned by polluted seas.
