Negeri Sembilan exco Nicole Tan who is also the vice secretary of the women’s wing of DAP has withdrawn from party election

KUALA LUMPUR A total of six candidates have pulled out from the central executive committee election held in conjunction with the DAP national congress held at IDCC, Shah Alam this Sunday.

Four candidates from Penang and Negeri Sembilan exco Nicole Tan Lee Koon, who is vice secretary women’s wing of DAP made the announcement on Saturday while Edmund Teoh withdrew on Friday, reducing the total number of candidates from 70 to 64 now.

The four from Penang are: Sungai Puyu assemblyman Phee Syn Tze, former Bagan Jermal assemblyman Soon Lip Chee, party members K. Kalidas and PR Kaliyappan.

The four said they support DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook’s plan to reshuffle the CEC for a fresh approach in facing future challenges while Tan said the decision was made to heed the call made by Loke to prioritise the interest of the party over others.

A total of 4,203 delegates from 1,650 DAP branches nationwide are to vote on Sunday.

The elected CEC members will elect the office bearers for 2025 to 2028.
