PETALING JAYA (Sin Chew Daily) — The seventh edition of Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards 2019 has recently completed its evaluation process at Sin Chew Daily headquarters in Petaling Jaya.

Among the supporting partners are Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Hua Zong), Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA), Malaysia Entrepreneurs’ Development Association (PUMM), Branding Association of Malaysia (BAM), SME Association of Malaysia, National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM), Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance (MICG), Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC), China Entrepreneurs Association in Malaysia (PUCM), Malaysia Retailers Association (MRA) and Asean Retail-Chains Franchise Federation (ARFF).

Other partners include Fine Paper Takeo Sdn Bhd, Skynet Worldwide (M) Sdn Bhd and Setia City Convention Center.

MRCA past president Datuk Seri Nelson Kwok

“Although there are fewer participants this year, I can see that many newcomers have performed really well especially against the generally sluggish market in these two years. Business performance is an important criterion in our evaluation.”

GIBN Holdings Sdn Bhd executive director Jason Tan

“As the primary moving forces in innovation, competitiveness and growth, progress in quality and economy are no longer optional but essential factors, Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards provides greater encouragement for innovative companies and give them more confidence to go on from here.”

ACCCIM national council member cum chairman of SMEs and HRD committee Koong Lin Loong

“There has been a lot of competition among the participating companies in the manufacturing sector. Most of the companies have also made minor improvements in technology adoption although some are still relatively conservative in funding technological migration. I hope local companies will boldly use branding strategies for their long-term benefits.”

PUMM past president Datuk Tony Looi

“The entire evaluation job has been carried out in a very stringent and fair manner. I hope this award event will go on for many more years to come, not just to recognize exceptional performers but also serve as encouragement for other companies.”

SME Association of Malaysia national president Datuk Michael Kang

“Despite a generally bleak economic outlook over the past one year, we still manage to see that most companies are still growing while improvements have been noted in their quality and financial management. Some of the export-oriented companies have also modified their business models including the adoption of business digitization, which has become a universal trend today.”

MRA deputy president Law Boon Eng

“I am impressed to find many emerging companies registering for Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards every year, especially those making good profits from relatively low capital input. This award event will help boost the participants’ market exposure.”

PUMM national president Tan Lay Seong

“I’m mainly responsible for the evaluation of services sector participants. I find that many of them can actually improve further in technology adoption. They must invest more in technology for their long-term development.”

Huazong executive committee member Kerk Loong Sing

“The overall standards of this year’s participating companies have been quite impressive although some have recorded lower profits this year due to the overall sluggish global outlook. I also discover that many of them do not expand their businesses abroad. I think they should consider expanding first to regional countries such as Indonesia, which holds tremendous market potentials.”

BAM president Datuk Eric Chong

“I’m impressed by the business results of some participating companies despite the lackluster economic prospects in these two years. Their enterprising spirit should be emulated by others. Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards provides an excellent platform for local SMEs by encouraging them to improve their operational and management efficiency while expanding their businesses.
