Roadshow to raise awareness of SCBEA

JOHOR BAHRU (Sin Chew Daily) –- The theme for the sixth edition of Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards 2018 is “Innovation, Transformation, Sustainability, Leadership”, with the objective of encouraging small and medium-sized enterprises in the country to participate in the process of nation-building.

To familiarize local businesses with the methods of participation in Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards, the organizers have lined up a series of roadshow events across the country with the first stop being Grand BlueWave Hotel in Johor Bahru.

From Johor Bahru, the roadshow will move on to other cities and towns in the country until mid-May.

Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards 2018 is jointly organized by Sin Chew Daily and Sinchew.com.my under MCIL Multimedia Sdn Bhd. CIMB Bank is the exclusive sponsor.

Among the supporting partners are Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Hua Zong), Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA), Malaysia Retailers Association (MRA), Malaysia Entrepreneurs’ Development Association (PUMM), Branding Association of Malaysia (BAM), SME Association of Malaysia, National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM), Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC), China Entrepreneurs Association in Malaysia (PUCM), Asean Retail-Chains Franchise Federation (ARFF) and Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance (MICG).

Grant Thornton Malaysia is the auditor while other partners include Skynet, Fine Paper Takeo Sdn Bhd and Setia City Convention Centre.

During the event in Johor Bahru, Ms Lenny Chiah, the organizing committee chairperson of Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards 2018, told the participants many award-winning companies in past events had come from the state of Johor, and she hoped more Johor companies would take part in this year’s event.

Grant Thornton Malaysia senior partner Desmond Tan said Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards was a warm-up for a company to become successful role model for its peers.

He encouraged Johor businesses to actively take part in this year’s event and adequately equip themselves in order to emerge as the ultimate victors in the hotly contested race.

Meanwhile, Grant Thornton Malaysia senior executive director Seah Siew Yun provided a detailed account on taxation matters.

There are a total of 12 award categories this year, namely Lifetime Excellence Achievement, Business Excellence Person of the Year, Business Sustainability Excellence Award, CIMB–Sin Chew Regional Excellence Awards, Retail Excellence Award, Product Excellence Award, Business Service Excellence Award, Manufacturing Excellence Award, Digital and Technology Business Excellence Award, CSR Excellence Award, Property Excellence Award, and Young/Emerging Business Excellence Award.
